My daughter (3) knows it's her vagina but we call them her "bits" for ease. She thinks the kid's tv programme called "Bits and Bobs" is histerical when the two characters "bob along" and say to each other - "Hold onto your bobs, bits" and "Hold on to your bits, bobs!"
my mum always called mine my widgy - and i absolutley hated it! my friends called theirs ; pee pee; wendy; and flue!
When our two daughters were little, they were taught the correct word for their private part, but we discreetly referred to it as 'Mary' (Mary Ann - Fan/Fanny), because it sounded nicer! Apologies to any ladies sharing the same name.
We didn't have any little boys, but would refer to their's as Dinkle.
Im so glad this question is on here. We have had great conversations about this in the office!! i think children should know the correct name and call them by the real name or by saying their 'bits'. I look after my nephew and my sister went mad at me after spending a day with me he called his 'bits' his penis. In their house they call a boys bits a 'winkle' and a girls bits a 'doodoos'.
I dont really see the point in teaching them one word only to teach them something completly different a few years down the line, also i think by saying a different word it just makes them feel they should be embarrassed by the word and their bits!!!
This is just my opinion x x
That is true wonky, although when in public, I wouldn't have wanted our 'little' girls to have loudly said "Can you wipe my vagina please Mummy" or "Mummy, I've got an itchy vagina". We always taught them that they should never be embarrased about any parts of their body, but considered some things 'private', especially when out anywhere. Fortunately, they have both grown into sensible, level headed young ladies & Mothers, so it didn't do them any harm. It's all down to personal choice.
