Baby movements in late pregnancy
Morning all.
I am a little concerned, the baby doesn't seem to be moving much. all I can feel are gentle and very faint movements, no kicks, no prods and its doing my head in.
I have rang the midwifes and left a message for them to call me back but no reply as yet.
I was very active yesterday (decorating) and in the evening there were virtually no movements at all so I went on the internet (big big mistake) and scared the cr@p out of myself.
Is this normal, I know the baby will be short of room now but I am still not very big was 33 at 36 weeks (that was two weeks ago)
Any ideas?

The baby is moving this morning but nothing that I would consider substantial, kinda like wind moving around except without the pain. this is my first so I have nothing to compare it to.

Annie's right - and even little babies in the womb need to rest now and again, but voice your fears if it makes you feel any better warpig. I could've told you a story on these lines about a friend of mine when she was pregnant, but although it turned out brilliantly, I won't bother until you've had your baby. When's he/she due? x
She is due on the 20th Feb icemaiden. I did think before ringing the midwife as I may come across as a neurotic mum, but you know what, I don't care, rather that and have peace of mind I guess. Mind you, the midwife doesn't seem to be that concerned as she hasnt called back yet.
I suppose I had better get used to this feeling (worry) 'cos its going to be there for the rest of my life, no matter what age the child.

For the past week I was getting very little, just the bum being pushed out now and again and a foot trying to find a way out of the side of my tummy. The past couple of nights is been getting more active again. Last night was a nightmare and very painful! It was pushing everything and anything out in all directions at the same time!
When I mentioned to my midwife at a check up last week that baby wasnt so active, I was just getting a little movement in the evenings (it has always been most active evening/night times) she said it was normal and so long as I was getting some movement, theres nothing to worry about.
Is there anything your baby reacts to? If so, try it and see if you can get a little wriggle just to help ease your mind.
Can I just ask you, being only 5 days ahead of me, have you got any pressure "down there"? I cant recall it with my first but the pressure Ive had for the past couple of days is undescribable! Im sure last night I could feel babys head moving and pushing down just above my pelvic bone. And the pressure in my bum! lol I could barely walk this morning!

The movements you describe are pretty much the same as mine psychick. Foot out the side and bum under my ribs.
Normally when I have weetabix she goes bonkers so had some this morning and did feel movements but its just they are so faint. Went to bed last night which is normally party time for her but there was nothing then I thought I felt lots of movement during the night but I cant remember if I dreamt it or if it was real!
As for the pressure down below, I havent felt any as yet but then the midwife has not mentioned the head engaging yet either. Very occasionally I do get a shooting pain in my backside (sorry dont mean to be gross) but that could be anything!

That could be sciatica pain warpig. Sounds like yours is in the same postion as mine lol We was out for a meal for my mums 6oth saturday night and all my neices and nephews (all teenagers!) were fascinated by the the bump! I was was stood there with my head turned talking to someone behind me and when I turned my head back, they were just stood there watching it! lol
I actually wish mine would have a rest because for the past 12 hours or so, it seems to have been pretty much awake and moving the whole time! And the movements are getting very painful now!

My first son didn't engage until right at the last minute. Then they told me he was going to be breech. An old midwife told me to lay on the bed with my feet up against the wall at rightangles with my body. Had to do this for 20 minutes, twice a day. Lo and behold - the baby turned, and was born naturally. No probs at all. I wish you loads of luck.
I'm a bit late dashing in here...... hope everything is ok warpig. I' sure baby warpig is just playing games with you and when you get to hosp she will start bouncing around making you look like a liar!
Psy, I haven't had that pressure that you mention but my friend who is 31 weeks with twins (her 3rd pregnancy) has mentioned it to me. She says she has this overwhelming urge to push, and despite having this feeling off and on for weeks, they havent yet made an apprearance.
My bump had been pretty quiet over the weekend until around 8pm last night when it began kicking the hell out of my ribs, to the point that my whole lower rib cage aches today. My fella practices ju jitsu so I can only assume that it is a boy and taking after his father (not beating me up, but doing martial arts LOL).
Let us know how you get on xx
