Hi ladies. I will be 37weeks tomorrow.

I have been feeling funny today, but put it down to the fact that I have a slight cold and haven't slept well the past two nights. I have been working myself up and have had butterflies because I have been feeling a bit run down that if baby comes early then I simply don't have the enery to push it out! LOL

Anyway, I was getting really hot and sweaty (put it down to the cold) but have just gone to the loo and think I have had a show....... cont.....

It was just a small amount of discharge but thicker than usual. Is it usual to start getting shows now or should I be making my way home now and starting my mat leave? I will ring my midwife once I find the number...... Agh! Why didn't i put it in my phone??!
Hi natalie sweetie , first of all .......calm down ......
Now , have you found your midwifes number yet ? When you do , write it down next to the phone , or save it in your mobile . Don't worry , even if you went into labour at 37 weeks it's not early enough to be of concern to you.
Was the show a thick mucous plug , sometimes with a light streak of blood ? Do you have any tightenings at all ?
I would say not to worry but do call your midwife who will want to know that you have had a show if you have . xxxxx
When I had my show, I hadn't been feeling at all right that day, couldn't put my finger on it but just felt grotty is probably the best way to put it, like I was about to come down with something, anyway (sorry!) my show was like very thick, slimy discharge and i kept getting bits of it for most of the day. My waters broke the following morning! I know everyone is different, so hopefully you have found the midwifes number and have given her a ring for some advice. Take care, Daffi x

Thanks ladies - I phoned the midwife, and she has said that baby could be here in next few days, probably within a week. Agh!

I feel better for having spoken to her, there was no blood BM it was just whitish but was thicker than usual and there was only a small amount. Hmmm, somehow I can't see me working up until 28th March LOL
Glad you have spoken to the midwife.
Now get yourself on maternity leave and try and get some rest! Lol! x
Pleased you rang your mw honey and now , as ws said , and you probably knew , baby could arrive anything from tomorrow to next week depending on if things move any further than a show . Have you got your bag packed anyway sweetie ? Keep us updated if you can hun :-) xxxxxx
Are you the next due to add a member to the AB family btw natalie ?
Question Author
Bags are packed BM! Just as well really, I wasn't expecting things to start right now. I guess it's a bit late to start back peddaling now LOL

We got everything ready over weekend just gone, so my mind is at rest that we have everything in hand for the next few days.

I think it's either me or MountainBoo, I am due 03 April, and Red is shortly after me. But Lorrymac and Lore (I think) are also due around the same time. Anyone who wants to go next is more than welcome though! LOL

Everytime baby moves now I keep thinking something is happening....LOL. I can see a fun few hours ahead. I am going to leave work early today (should be home by 2 so if I don't post between now and then I will return and update you all then).

Thanks for your quick response both, it has put my mind at rest! XX
Hi natalie, are you getting excited and nervous yet?

I got my first show just two days before baby arrived but was first told I could be getting shows for a week or two before baby arrives. At least you are ready, equipment wise anyway lol 37 weeks is classed as full term so there will be no worries for you or baby. I cant believe you are still working though!

Keep us posted and good luck !
Good Luck Natalie. I will watch this space with interest!

I just wasn't expecting anything to happen just yet - my mum, her sisters and the rest of the family have always gone a minimum of a week overdue so I assumed i would be too.

Psy, at this moment in time, I can't believe I am still working either *scratches head*
I have just been to see my boss though and as I sound fairly bunged up I have laid it on thick and said that I will be going home due to my cold. If it is pregnancy related they can begin my mat leave early so I am being sneaky. Then tonight I am going to have a chat with Mr Nat and look through my mat leave docs and see if I can leave earlier than anticipated.
Hey Natalie, if Baby Nat decides to come early, you will have no option than to start your leave early regardless!!! I don't think reading through all the maternity leave documents will really make much difference ;o) x
oooh excciting stuff!

youre classed as full term from 37 week so dont worry about giving birth now, baby will be fine.

I hate to say it though but i had a show a few weeks before little CRX arrived, although he wasnt in right position

I was gonna race you to the finish i thought, but i havnt the energy to give birth at moment lol

good luck and nkeep us posted xx
OMG Nat, it's all go then, lol. Keep us posted on your progress up untill you go to hospital obviously.

I had a flase alarm last friday, had a leak and even had to change trousers as was a bit unexpected but turns out that it was just quite a bit of discharge : (

I'm shocked that your still not on maternity leave, how have you coped? Are you getting any pains or anything yet?

I have been a bit down lately because I've not been sleeping and my tummy feels so heavy that my ligiaments are tender all the time and feel as though they can't stretch anymore. Sorry to moan about me. I'm really happy for you though and hope things move swiftly on from now.

xx
I worked up until 2 weeks before my first and with my second - I finished work on the Friday and was booked in for my section on the wednesday. As long as you feel okay, stay on as long as you can, then you get the benefit of the time off later. A woman i work beside worked until she was a week overdue with her 4th, but that is a bit extreme!

Hope all is well Natalie and that baby will be with you when she is fully cooked!
annie, your friend was not an extreme a case as i was. i worked to 42 weeks and even popped in on way to be induced :)

Hi all - I am home now! Nothing has happened since, and I doubt it will for weeks now probably, except that bubs has been particularly activebut then that's probably be with heightened sensitivity to every movement! My blelly is really tight and strangely loads of purple stretch marks have come up since this morning - I mousturised this morning and they weren't there, and now they have appeared. I guess baby's wriggling might have caused them.

If possible I would like to carry on working for as long as poss, the only thing that is putting me off is the thought of my waters breaking right in the middle of the office. The only thing I can think that would prevent the most humiliating experince of my life would be wearing a nappy until they decide to break but I thought that's probably a bit extreme considering this could be going on for the next week or two. Or longer.

I'm not having any pain mountianboo, only the usual tweaks and niggles (swollen ankles at the end of the day, difficulty getting comfy at night, feeling hot, etc). Assuming I go to my due date then I should only have 10working days left (due to Easter), and I am going to see how I can work around it that I might finish next Friday, if not earlier.

I think the show gave me a bit of a shake up this morning and reminded me that there's no reason that baby couldn't come early, and would still be fine. For some reason I just keep assuming it will be mid April so keep thinking "Nah.... there's ages yet!". Oh, well I shall keep you posted.

P.S. MBoo - Moan as much as you like dear, it's all I seem to do at the moment!
Red - stopping in on the way to be induced?! LOL
yes i did, but i think it was more to do with seeing everyone and delaying the hospital visit for as long as possible as i was so scared lol

Isnt it strange that we all have this one date in our head for babys arrival and that anything either side of this just isnt right. I have April 14th in my head and yet realistically i may be induced in 2 weeks or c-sectioned in 4.

as for waters breaking, i think its uncommon for them to break before contractions have started so youd probably be safe and unlikely to break them at work, still doesnt stop you worrying though. Finish work as and when you feel you want to, theres no point in overdoing things and making yourself uncomfortable and stressed.
The anticipation is frustrating isn't it? I wish we knew exactly what was going to happen and when.
You sound very cool, calm and collected Nat, that's probably the best way to be.
Red, you must be bionic woman or something, working right up until your 42nd week and then popping in on the way to be induced, lol, I'd be a shivering wreck!!
Hi all, Just thinking about what Red said and I feel the same. I have 22nd of May in my head, but because I had a C-Section last time and baby is breech at moment. I will have to decide on my next consultant appointment in 4 weeks if I will need another C-section!

Although I would like to give birth the normal way. The decision might be taken away from me anyway and then I'll be looking at bump making an appearence sooner!

What a thought! x x x x x

I have always had April 11th or 14th in mind for the birth. Not sure why really.... it's not like you can actually book up and say "No, the 12th isn't good for me actually... what about the 14th?" :-D

My aunty is a midwife although I don't see her often but I think I will call her tonight and see what she reckons about me staying on at work. I feel absolutely fine in myself (apart from the said usual niggles, which is to be expected) but more important to me is that when I get to the end of my mat leave and have to return to work the weeks are going to be so precious that I don't want to end up kicking myself for finishng early now. I'll weigh it all up later I think when my fella is home. If baby did arrive tonight it would do me a favour as I wouldn't have to make a decision then!
