Congrats Dino

Best to speak to your doctor. The Placenta can absorb alcohol, so it can get through to the Foetus.

The chances are there isn't any damage to it, but best ask an expert, Doctor or Midwife.

Thanks ,

do you know what the risks are if alcohol gets into the foetus? I thought you were only at risk during early pregnancy?
i may be wrong but i believe the only evidence there is with regard to this is with people who have drunk excessively throughout the pregnancy, when my wife was pregnant her doctor told her not to worry about it as long as it wasn't an everyday occurence or going out on a night and getting hammered

Thanks for that...Im really worried obviously if I knew I wouldnt have drunk but I do know people who have a few drinks while pregnant as long as its not excessive. I guess if it was only for a 2 week period it should be fine as long as I dont drink now?
There are loads of people who drink before they knew they were pregnant - if people didn't get drunk, there probably wouldn't be as many babies born anyway ;o).

As my doctor said to me, obviously you should do your best to stick to the medical guidelines, but the stress of worrying about something you may have done will be worse for the baby than whatever it was, so you need to chill and relax.

The chances of anything being wrong are minute.

The main reason that you should follow the rules now is that if there happened to be anything wrong, even if that was absolutely unconnected, you would blame yourself.

If you are concerned, chat to your doctor or midwife about it - I can guarantee that it will be a familiar story to them and that they will be able to put your mind at rest.
to be fair they have done research for years and unless you drink heavily throughout pregnancy then you should be ok, they say its ok to have a few now and then, i know most woman dont want to ,but recent studies have showed its ok, dont worry thousands of woman drink when they dont realise they are pregnant.

:o)
hi

i would't worry about it. i was about 10 weeks when i found out and had a few of the biggest drinking sessions of the year in those 10 weeks.

my baby was born perfictly healthy

i've always believed that if something is going to go wrong it will and it doesn't matter how healthy you are or what you eat. obviously once you know your pregnant your not going to be going out clubbing it every night!!!

My friend fell pregnant and she was as healthy as you could be and her waters broke at 22 weeks then she had the wee one at 27, thankfully he is a healthy 2 year old now. but she done everything by the book. with her second one she ate what she wanted and done what she wanted and she had a normal pregnancy, delivery and healthy baby

in my area there was 52 babies born to heroin dependant mothers so i don't think a few wines will do any damage

i was more shocked when my doctor was saying avoid nuts, certain cheeses etc and DRINK in moderation!!! i thought it would've been a complete no no
