I am going to visit my granddaughters (16 and 12) next weekend. I have only seen them once, over a year ago, since the pandemic began and I would ,like to take them a gift. They want for nothing in a material sense, but they lost their mother very suddenly in 2015 when they were still very young. They have battled so valiently with this gaping hole in their lives and now seem to be through the worst.
I would like to get them something that is fun, cheerful ,maybe silly, looking forward not back. Something to eat something to read, (they have all the screens they need), something to wear, maybe a shopping trip?
People on here come up with such brilliant suggestion.
I wonder if you can help?

A card with money so they can get what they want.
Teenage girls love 'pongies' - skin creams, bath creams etc. etc... I would buy each a really glittery bag and fill it with lots of experimental stuff. (My granddaughter loves it and the 11 yr. old is going the same way.)
A shopping trip is a good idea.

These Pongies (never heard of them!) sound like a really good idea
One of them is a blue eyed blonde and the other is a brown eyed brunette, so will they need different products?
Also, I live in the middle of nowhere.
Do places like Tesco sell them as we don't have anything fancy this far west ?
Colourful Swatch watch, bracelet, decorated back'pack.
Masses on Amazon. Pongies just means things that smell nice not a particular brand. You could also wonder round Boots or Body Shopand test the smells and buy a selection
On Amazon search. Smellies for teenage girls

Thank you everybody - you have been as brilliant as I thought you would.
I am about to hit Ammmm (you know who) and Take it from Here circa 1952
Could you spend the time with them at a nail bar, the three of you getting your nails done? Maybe that would be a no no re school.
kids today as you say have everything - even their own brand of smellies, hair products etc - do think money so they can go buy whatever they want themselves.
Are they sporty? Ice-skating, fun fair,?
A voucher for Primark, most young girls love to buy clothes from there. Or somewhere else they prefer?
Spend an afternoon on a shopping trip with them. Let them choose the things that they like.
