No as far as I know she didnt have diabetes, just erm lucky I guess lol
I didnt think my boy was big when he was born, but having his first bath in hospital I remember the girl next to me bathing her wee girl and she was tiny
My 1st born was 9lb 12oz , my 2nd was 8lb 6oz and my last one was 10lb 10oz. My last one was breech and I had to have an emergency c section. Thank god
My first was 9lb 13oz - he was an emergency c-section after 36 hours of established labour - (8 hours of early labour as well). He was lying back to back and was stuck fast. - they had to tug so hard to pull him back out the birth canal that my husband and the aneathsetist (?!) had to hold me down on the operating table to stop me falling off! Disn't put me off having baby 2 only 13 months later. planned section and lighter baby this time though!
My first did look big though, my mum said that it was the first newborn she had seen that looked good in shorts!
I was 9lb 3oz when I was born, my brother was 9lb 11oz . Luckily my daughter was only 7lb 3oz ! I have come to the conclusion though that the baby I am having now is either going to be huge or I am carrying twins! lol I'll let you know after my scan in 2 weeks!
When my sister had her daughter the woman in the bed across from her had a baby that was 12 pounds!!!!! She had diabetes. The baby was in the neo natal ICU b/c of complications. He was huuuuge next to the other babies who were all really little. Not funny that he had complications, but very funny to see.
Mum says babies are much bigger these days, 9and 10 lb something are really common weights.
I fortunately produce small babies, neither of mine were over 6 lbs but when i said, Im so pleased I didnt have to push out an 8lber, my mum said theres no difference. it all hurts and long as its not got a great big head and isnt gonna get stuck they all hurt the same. I suppose shes actually qualified to comment not only cause shes a midwife but she had 4 kiddies herself weighing between 6lb and 10lb.
my cousins were big babies one was 11lb 2oz and the other was 10lb 8oz and they were natural births and my aunt is only tiny about 5'4" and is probably about 8stone ouch!
The biggest baby I delivered was from an aboriginal lady of large proportion , the little boy popped out at just over 15lbs.
As for myself, I was born at home , unintentionally early , and only weighed 2lbs. :-)
The lady who had the 15lbs baby had only just got arrived at our unit and barely got onto the delivery table before the being fully dilated and a couple of pushes and baby was there , it was her 8th and a beautiful big baby indeed :-)
My newborn baby girl was 9lb 7 my labour was 3 hours long and I had no stitches but it made my blooming eyes water i can tell you. My other daughter was 7lb exactly labour was 6 hours and she ripped me in half loads of stitches lol.
My cats, why is that a strange thing to say? I've had four miscarraiges and if i do get to have a baby god help me if it's 14lbs 4oz. Would you enjoy have a baby that size? I'll take what ever i'm given, if any, but would rather it was slightly smaller if thats ok.
