drive/train to liverpool and get the ferry

http://www.steam-packet.com/SteamPacket/Book-N ow/Book-Now

i tend to use the AA rout finder or the RAC one they both really good and give Exact directions if you type in your postcode and your destination and the postcode if you know it then it will take you right to the door (lol)
hope this has been of some help to you
both previous answers presume you are travelling by, and bringing your car with you. If you are foot passengers on steam packet then you cannot park your car at the liverpool dock will have to use a pay car park 15 mins away. You can park and pay at Heysham ( slower ferry crossing as is on the Ben My Cree not fast craft . I must admit as a resident of Isle Of Man I usually fly either to manchester or liverpool but Eastern Airways fly direct from Newcastle ( about 150 return Per person ) Too much ,I agree if it's a family hol. Do come tho it's a lovely place.
If cost is not an issue, hire a helicopter.
