Hi, my 12 year old daughter has asked for the day off of school to go to a CD signing!
I have said no....reasons being....
She's just had a month of school....Christmas and 'snow days'
It would mean her travelling into London.

She says...it's not her fault she's missed so much school
I said...It's not my fault that this 'pop star' chooses a school day for an event like this!

Absent father says I am a bad parent and should let her go!

What would you do.

Will be back later....off now to my full time job....to support ungrateful child as absent father doesn't.

Hang on, who mentioned her being behind in her studies? I've checked back over the replies and can't see no reference to that?

As for comparing the two threads, one I see a total lack of respect i.e the child swearing at or infront of their parents. Up until Divegirl said her son called the 12 year old "devil spawn" I assumed her daughter was normally a sensible pre teen, so I fail to see how you can link my 2 responses.

And assuming its Boyzone?

She might be behind because she's just had a month off school.
isnt everyday at school studies?
4get-what??
oh sorry behind. dont worry have woke up now
i am really surprised to see the answers here. To me this would be a total no-brainer. You can't just pick and choose what days you go to school and what days you dont you have to go everyday unless you are ill. i really can't believe the normally very sensible B00's answer. What have you done with the real B00?
Agreeing with the above, a 12 year-old shouldn't even expect to have a day off school.
They will even get over it.
I was 12 once. I know.

Well you lot have been busy on here.....lol
Right....the signing is some kid called something Bieber.....and as far as I know it's in Hammersmith.....so about an hour and a half on a train from me! AND....you're going to love this bit.....most of the kids are getting there for 4 in the morning....because you need a wrist band to get in....

I'm really really grateful for your replies as the majority have backed up my feelings....She is not going....end of story!
As for calling her the devils spawn....she's not really a bad kid....just learnt the art of playing off Mum against Dad.
This kills me as she can't see if for what he is. I work my butt off to provide for my kids and he pays nothing....but still wants all the good times with her [my son is 18 and has seen through his Dad and has very little to do with him].
My ex is a vile foul mouthed man....who last night even when I phoned for his support even had the audacity to hurl insults about my recently deceased father....he knows how to hit me where it hurts.
But hey, no one said life was easy did they!
many thanks for all of you kind words and encourgement

Apologies for spelling.....it's been a long day!
Ahhh, I didn't realise it was a 4am jobby!

I also assumed it was somewhere fairly local to you and it'd be done within an hour or so.

So yes, I guess I'm gonna have to swallow my previous comments and go along with the majority (bloody hate it when they're right and im not- lol) and tell you to put your foot down with a firm hand on this one ;-)

Kids, God love 'em eh?
She should be in school and I certainly wouldn't let her got into London simply to get a signed cd even if the kid is the next big thing (he's been getting coverage on Blue Peter and T4). It's only one day but these all add up.

look for the pop-stars web page....download the signature & give to d'ter - simples
i wouldn't let her go. it could be the sort of thing used against you later in a custody battle!
Oooooooh - wot a darling.........am off ;)
Make sure it`s not David Bieber

That's the one No_know....I'm disgusted.....I thought she had better taste ;o]

Anyway....the story changed again last night when she told me that the quest for wrist bands starts at four am and she could be back before school starts [and return after school for the signing.
So.....I told her she could go. On one condition! HER DAD TAKES HER......pmsl....beat that!!!!
