baked potato - how long?

approx how long, and at what temperature in a fan assisted electric oven (in deg C if poss) for a medium sized baked spud please? i did not start it in the microwave.

Not if you put a batch of 4 loaves with it and take them out after 35-40 minutes
It would be incinerated in my fan oven after 50 minutes!
Sorry, but there is no one right answer. It depends on type of spud, size (what IS medium?!) and type of oven.

Prick with fork, stick in at 180/200 and then test at 50 minutes and then every 15 til done.
yep the outside would be all burnt and inside still hard in mine at that length, thats why I microwave first for 10 mins then stick in oven for 25-30 mins on 200°
If you bake it with a skewer through the middle it speeds it up as the skewer conducts heat into the interior quicker.
Anybody tried McCains frozen baked spuds?
I have already asked this question before with profuse apologies for my culinary ignorance. The general consensus then was that the cooking time was 200 degrees for 90 minutes.

50 minutes is not really long enough.
God I wouldn't microwave for 10 minutes...............I microwave mine for 4 minutes then in the cooker for 20 to 30 minutes at 190.
