Do any of you wonderful ABer's know of any shop bought mince pies that don't have candied peel in them. I've tried numerous brands but they have the dreaded peel in them.
I made my own last year and added a tiny slug of brandy. Well, quite a bit of brandy. If I'm honest, I did tip the bottle up rather a lot. Frankly, you wouldn't have known whether there was candied peel in or not by the time I'd finished
You could always make your own mincemeat - it's incredibly easy, and the best way to ensure that you know exactly what's in it. If the review calls for mixed peel, just leave it out.

Thanks all. I did think about making my own mincemeat but as there's only me who would eat the pies, it seems too much trouble. Just thought I'd be able to buy a box of 6 pies without the cp just for me.
I make my own mincemeat too, St Delia's recipe, there's still half a kilner jar in the back of the fridge from last year, a good slug of cherry brandy will revive it nicely.
