Just been getting tea ready and wondered, do I really need to peel those big black field mushrooms? I always do. Is it strictly necessary?

Tills, you can also add smoked bacon bits to the onion/mushroom fry, or stir in a tin of drained smoked mussels at the end for a pasta sauce

I believe they're very fine, not much bigger than a matchstick, and cooking would probably spoil the aftereffects.
