Nachos Cheese

I am going to a Mexican Evening tomorrow and have agreed to do the nachos and melted cheese. But I haven't got a clue which cheese is used! I once had some with melted cheddar and it didn't taste right at all. Can anyone advise?

I think they use Monterey Jack in America, but this says cheddar is okey

Maybe you could try more mature cheddar?

Oo yes a nice mature cheddar is fab. Make sure you don't use a mild or medium one.

I think I'm right in saying Emantale or Gruyer (have I spelt those right?) come into it somewhere too, don't they?

I use a good strong cheddar !
