Just had a glass of this leftover from possibly last year, maybe the year before. It reminded me how much in like it. Thinking of buying a couple of bottles for a couple of people who I know like it, who sells it?

Ooh, thank tone xx
Your welcome, go grab a bottle.
I have a vague, hazy memory of drinking a cocktail involving Amarula and Creme de Menthe I drank several before concluding it was not a match made in heaven..........
Question Author
Oh no, that sounds vile..and very vomit inducing.
I once went into an off licence and said 'Amarula?' Some wag who walked in behind me said 'and I'm a pencil'.... :)
Asda has it on offer for £11
It's a bit like Bailey's Cream or a meringue? ☺
Question Author
Off to Asda tomorrow then, thanks for the tip Always.
I believe you can make a passable homemade one with baileys and midori, don't quite get a merangue taste..
There was a muck more successful cocktail that night also involving Amarula but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. There again I don't remember much about that night, somehow I managed to get up at 05.00hrs the next day to go on a game drive though.
Anyone ever made this. Was given recipe by friend but haven't used it.

Homemade Baileys

4ozs sugar dissolved
2 1/2 ozs water
8 ozs whisky
5 ozs evaporated milk
5 ozs single cream
teaspoon coffee.

Dissolve sugar and water and bring to boil. Do not over boil. Cool.

Mix all ingredients together. Keep in fridge for 2 hours before using.

You could add tablespoon of brandy or rum to spice it up.

I've certainly made a home made baileys, not sure if it was that exact recipe, and it was years and years ago, but it tasted exactly like the real thing, I remember being very impressed.
Question Author
I think the one I made used condensed milk..
Question Author
Probably the best thing you could do,Eccles, all that fresh air.
I've just been browsing cocktails using it and there's one involving grenadine amongst other things, called a dead frog or squashed frog or something. Sounds like another vomit inducing drink..
One of my favourite cartoons, frog in a blender

Amarula over ice is heaven - it used to be sold in lovely tins with an elephant standing beneath an Amarula tree as a nod to the legend that elephant get drunk when eating the fermenting fruit. Still have several of these tins about the place - lovely colours.
