what is the difference between freshwater / pond water and river water

and can you eat fish from them all ?

I would be a little cautious about eating fish from a domestic pond. Freshwater generally means rivers or commercial fish farms (although there are saltwater fish farms also).
Only if the gamekeeper doesn't catch you.

My short answer would be yes, as long as the water is not polluted and the fish is thoroughly cooked.
I have eaten Pike and Perch from the river Lea (Sshhhh, don't tell the bailiff - but it was long ago) and they were delicious. Carp used to be a great delicacy in this country and still is in some eastern European countries.

However, I would avoind a 'pond' fish - they can taste awfully muddy.
