I am interested to know who uses their grill frequently and what you use it for?

Is it toast, meat or simply for browning a dish off?

We don't really eat toast, but occasionally brown off a cauliflower cheese or a shepherdess pie and grill veggie burgers. Maybe once a fortnight on average.

Some very interesting answers so far.....
God what do you Canucks know about real gastronomy? My English ? sister has lived and taught in Ontario for nearly 60yrs.
We had to attend a "corn roast" in our honour!!! a big patch of sod was dug out the back lawn and a trench dug and filled with wood pallets. My nieces ex boyfriend's father was farmer so he supplied a pick up load of corn that we had to shuck. Half a oil drum was filled with water and suspended over smelly bonfire and corn cobs were boiled in a pillow case within oil drum. Meanwhile the BIL stokes up the GAS bbq and cremates weeners. The best part of the meal was the Mascal worm I was invited to eat as guest of honour from my Tequila.!! And that was a freakin "roast"? We use a saucepan on the hob in civilised climes don't you know to BOIL our sweetcorn kernels? Sure the Indians in Algonquin park never had gas BBQs either!! Maybe a Hibachi I concede.

sorry mezcal worm. :-)
don't stop there retocop - they serve pink blancmange cut into cubes in Alberta as a Salad with savory stuff and something called 'ambrosia' another savory salad made out of mayonnaise mixed with mini marshmallows. But I am from Quebec so for me there is nothing better than poutine (that's fries with gravy and cheese) food of the gods
I haven't used ours since somebody decided that the grill should be built into the oven even if that oven is at floor level. I'm not as supple as I once was.
We have a George Foreman family grill for bacon n sausages
I used to use it for cheese on toast and cooking the top of an omelette. But it broke a while back and I never got around to getting it fixed. So now, never.
Big difference between a 'celebrity chef' doing a 'one off' demo dish and a pro kitchen that does 1,000 meals every lunch time! ( that is after we have done the 15Kg of bacon and 10Kg of sausages for breakfast) We have a laugh at TV chefs very few could handle our job!
Retrocop, I have to assure you that that is not the normal way of having a corn-roast. You were "dining" with some very strange people...Well, at least culinarily strange.
I agree with Retrochic's first answer! I rarely fry anything. And yes cooking bacon has set my grill on fire many times!!
How do all you people manage a conflagration upon using a grill? Amazing!
Tilly, I have a feeling that there is some difference in the interpretation of "grilling" and "broiling".
We have (had) a mini grill left over from one of the girls Uni days as we have an AGA as an oven. I have set fire to some salmon fillets, exploded some sausages and almost turned bread into Carbon, well past the fire stage. But, I love cheese on toast so still grill, occasionally.
I posted pictorial links! LOL! There should be no confusion! ;-)
To confuse things more, I just Googled "Difference between grilling and broiling." I happened to get an American site, and the first response was from someone in the UK who said "We don't use the term "broil" in the UK: we use"grill".
Stuey
I will drink to that minus The worm!! My BIL was a real screwball for sure. :-)
Grilling is broiling in the USA.
Trenches and pillow-cases? Wow:). Anyway it's almost time to go in search of wobbly-pops...Cheers.

I'm quite surprised by the number who use a grill to cook meat.
