Most Wanted Albariño 2014 - Denomination De Origen.
This is an excellent example of this Spanish varietal which continues to grow in popularity and is making its way onto more and more restaurant and pub wine lists up and down the country. Fresh and crisp with a juicy mouthfeel, this makes am excellent pairing for flavoursome fish dishes and tapas. Peach and grapefruit flavours mingle on the palate and make this one lip-smackingly delicious white wine.
Available in The Co-op for the normal price of £7.99.
Sounds very scrumptious.
I'm off to m&s shortly to pick up a bottle of Butchers Block, an Argentinian Malbec, recommended to me by the nurse while she was taking blood from me, seems appropriate..
I'm also a great lover of Albarino. Its intense aromas, with scents of almonds, apples, citrus, lime and peaches, Albarino is perfect for seafood dishes, you get a feeling of a bracing breeze with every sip. I even have it with my fish "n" chips, but never with vinegar, as it spoils the aromas.
On a different tack entirely, this Amarone is amazing for just over a tenner a bottle - they were selling it for well over £16 earlier this year & it was decent value then.
I've got a dozen in my rack and am going to get another case when I get paid - it's already lush and will age beautifully over the next few years.
Ditto, S-D. The best Zin I ever had was a bottle of Dancing Bull at the Robin Hood in Droitwich. The ex and I had a puncture and had to wait 2 hours for the RAC to attend, so decided to wait in the pub...
