Most Wanted Albariño 2014 - Denomination De Origen.

This is an excellent example of this Spanish varietal which continues to grow in popularity and is making its way onto more and more restaurant and pub wine lists up and down the country. Fresh and crisp with a juicy mouthfeel, this makes am excellent pairing for flavoursome fish dishes and tapas. Peach and grapefruit flavours mingle on the palate and make this one lip-smackingly delicious white wine.

Had a glass of Rioja tonight which was corked. How the hell do you get rid of the cork/mould taste. Bleuuuurgh.

Riojas can have a bit of a fousty aroma when opened after several years in the bottle. Let it breathe overnight and try it again tomorrow.

I called into Yearlstone Vineyard today and did a bit of tasting which was my first experience of Devon wine. The red was far too light for me and it would take many years of global warming before they could do any reds with depth. I bought a bottle of their no.3 (rose) and their sparkling rose 2013. The weather is perdect for their crop at the moment (warm and windy) which keeps the moulds away apparently.
