Has anyone tried this veg? Saw it in my local Lidl this morning & looks like a cross between cabbage & kale. Full of iron & lots of vitamins according to a google search. Will probably buy some soon to try it

It's lovely! One way I enjoy is frying off some onion, garlic and shredded bacon. Add shredded cavolo Nero with a splash of sherry and seasoning. Bung lid on and leave to steam. Gorgeous with pork.

It is kale like. It's hard to describe. I don't like kale though.
If you like kale (which I do), you'll like Cavolo nero....see here for info

It's basically just posh cabbage and therefore attracts a premium price. Why bother?
Exactly. My granfather grew fields of kale and cabbage which he supplied to local hotels. Funny how all of those veg are so popular (and expensive) now.

If you like the bitterness of iron rich dark cabbage you'll like it - I just buy what we in the North call Spring Cabbage/Greens, cheap and tasty.

I think I will have to try it. Thanks everyone for your replies x
Yes, I like it and have fairly often. Its actually a kale but translates as 'black cabbage'
Its easy to tare it up with your fingers, rather than preparing it with a knife.
If you like your greens dark, I think you will like it.
