Rice and peas as in West Indian rice and peas? I would want some spice in this.....rice and peas as in green peas ... possibly a tad boring ...but this is only my opinion.

Very similar to Jamaican Black pea rice except not so spicy.
Although they call it Black Pea it is kidney beans actually.

I've got basmati brown red camargue and wild rice mix on the go in a soup - with chicken gravy that I've cut back with water, haricot beans, shredded chicken meat, mushrooms, peas and some lemon thyme in - makes for a good soup.

Im talking garden pea, white rice and bisto gravy. Not been well, just cant be bothered to go out but i know peas contain lots of vitamins so just need some substence thinking rice will make it more if a meal, rice and peas go well together, just thinking will a touch of gravy make it a bit less bland

Not for me....I wouldn't want brown gravy anywhere near rice.

To give the rice a little added flavour cook it in tomato or orange juice.

To add flavour to plain rice, this stuff is excellent....add at beginning of cooking. Looks expensive but lasts ages...

I can't imagine anything worse than Bisto gravy with anything, never mind rice and peas.

When I was a poorly little lamb mummy used to give me poached smoked Haddock. Bosh. A miraculous instant cure-all. I didn't want a repeat doseage. Think the fish was ailing more than me.

BTW guys it was vile.

Maybe if the gravy was really thick it would have been nice but it wasn't.
