The true purists never 'clean' their woks. Its all about locking the flavours in the pan or something.
i rub a small drop of olive oil inside the pan to keep it clean - washing it will only ruin it and make it rusty.
..when you first purchase a new wok you should season it by gently heating some groundnut oil ( or any oil of your choice really ) gently rotating the wok so the oil covers all of the surface, pour off and repeat... after each use I usually give mine a quick wipe over with a paper kitchen towel...

Of course you need to wash it!!
You mean inside or underneath ( you wont get a build-up after time). Well, for the inside you just need to soak with hot soapy water for a few hours and it should do the job and scrap the stubborn burned food off.

For underside, yes! you burn the food and dirt off.

sorry, is "you will get a build up after time"
