Ok, I am soooo far behind this year what with accidents, sickness etc (I just need a good vet I think!). Soooooo what do you lovely lot usually buy? A frozen Turkey well in advance so you’re prepared, a pre-ordered fresh Turkey which you pick up a few days before Xmas or have it delivered, a Turkey crown, or something else!?? Answers on a postcard please!…….

Togo, it's a wonder you weren't ill after that. You should defrost things in cold water.

Omg Togo - I can just picture you with this Turkey in the bath!! LOL. Hilarious!
On another note, MrSmow has just suggested goose - you say youve cooked it before. Did you like it?
I'm off to my daughters again. If it's anything like last year, it will be seafood galore...lobster, giant prawns, scallops, and crab. We also had a traditional northern Italian sausage and lentil dish on Christmas eve.
Tills ... that was in the days before we "got ill" and just shrugged and got on with it.

Goose is delicious Smow. Pink meat and not much of it considering the size of bird, gamey can be a little "dry" if not done right. Lots and lots of fat comes off whilst cooking and needs full attention. I have cooked someone's goose and will not do another. Why is it never on restaurant menus? Because it is labour intensive and tricky.
I'm in the US. We had turkey for Thanksgiving (love those leftovers). For Christmas, I'm considering a ham. I haven't had one in decades.
(I just need a good vet I think!).
no - no vet - he will just put you down - ter daah !

all the turkeys are dead apparently - bird flu
I am going for a triple fish....
goose is so greasy - you have to do it on a trivet whatever that is
(I dont cook)
Evening, Smow....hope you're feeling well?
My cousin up the road rears us a turkey and delivers all ready for the oven. Dave shops and cooks. I craft and open wine. :-)
I can't stand turkey - just plain boring and tasteless. We'll be having roast beef cooked very rare.
