Anyone used their airfryer to cook steak instead of their traditional frying pan?
Asking because one writer said she did not get a nice crust/colour on it.
One of my favourite Youtube channels is that of Bald Foodie Guy. Many of his videos are comparing 'value' brands with 'full price' ones but he's also done quite a few videos about his experiences with an air fryer. (NB: He's not the type of guy who only posts videos saying "Hey, look at this! Isn't it marvellous!". Some of his videos are abut the total disasters that he's had when trying out something in his air fryer). His videos can be rather long but, as they're usually entertaining as well as informative, that shouldn't really matter.
Bald Foodie Guy has done two video about cooking steak in his air fryer. The first, from a year ago, is here:
I looked at the first video...not surprised he struggled. The temperature was way too low. I think he said 180? The pre-set on my airfryer is 235 for steak. 3-4 minutes each side gave me perfect medium rare.
Shame the steak was poor quality though. I looked at the reviews...Sainsbury's...AFTER buying.
Many complaints about tough meat and terrible butchery...irregular thickness and falling to pieces. Exactly what I got.
We got some lovely Aberdeen Angus rump and sirloin from Lidl the other day. I cooked it in the air fryer on the grill setting High for 8 minutes. It was well oiled and seasoned before it went in and came out beautifully to rest for another 8 minutes.
