I'll be honest I don't understand the question either. Comfort food from childhood to me is things I used to like that cheered or warmed me up but most of them are not available anymore - Vesta Beef Curry and Chow Mein (yes really), Duocan curries, Birds Eye frozen chocolate cake with real cream, crispy cod fries, Mcvities (?) chocolate cup cakes - they were in a silver fluted cake case, choc sponge and then a totally flat but quite thick choc icing.
Comfort food for me was anything mom cooked...her pasta sauce, gingerbread cake, Apple pie, cookies. Also after school I'd make mayo sandwiches on soft squishy white bread. Retrocop reminded me of liver sausage...or liverwurst as it was. I'd eat it straight...slicing increasingly thicker slices off the roll. Very disappointed when I found it didn't exist here π£
Naomi, if you are feeling down for whatever reason but there is someone there to comfort you, (lucky you) then that's fine.
If there is no one to comfort you, you may want to curl up on the sofa with comfort food. Mine is chocolate but now I've seen ice cream mentioned, if I had a tub in the freezer, it would be that.
Put a weepy film on and have a good cry while eating your comfort food.
