does anyone know where I can buy maple sugar, cream and butter from a uk mail order company? I know I can get it straight from Canada and the US but the p and p and customs make this very expensive.

no it doesn't Jno. You get shingles off virus left in your body, specifically in a nerve, from when you had chicken pox....not only does it not make you immune, you can't get shingles if you never have chicken pox NOBA when the shingles scabs are there, you are actually shedding virus and can give chicken pox to others.
I don't recall ever having chicken pox - when Mum died I rescued my childhood medical records, but there was no mention of it. It might have been a mild dose, if all the shingles amounted to was an itchy eye.
Where is everyone? Hope no one is unwell. Hit and breezy here. I made scotch eggs as we cant get them here.
Yesterday I keot getting cramp in my big eight toe. It stuck upwards and was v painful but I couldn't gwt it down. In the end I hobbled to lounge where Mr N rubbed it but the minute he let go it shot up again. We were in hysterics even though it was painful. He is the only person who can touch my feet! It's his birthday tomorrow but we are not doing anything overly exciting ! We are two pensioners now and must act accordingly!!

stuck in a traffic jam for an hour and a half this morning, as the North Circular (which I didn't want to travel on) was closed by flooding. This afternoon found out OH may be facing more chemo, which doesn't sound great.
Question Author
I am sorry to hear that Jno. I will add you and your OH to my prayers
thank you, woofgang. No need to pray about traffic jams, but OH may require a little help. (There's some sort of full-body scan and some oscopies coming up to find out exactly what's wrong.) I am doing my best but OH is not really one to show weakness or seek comfort.
Sorry to her that jno. Not an exciting time ahead. Also prayers from me.
North circular eh? Wow that brings back happy hippie carefree memories of when I worked at the Hendon Hall Hotel and ran across the North circular in the summer. My feet almost melted as I wasnt wearing shoes and I always used to scrape a bit of the tarmac to nibble. I loved the tar.
I actually found myself driving through Temple Fortune, neti, which is miles off course.
Jno I lived I Temple Fortune ! Opp the police station . I often google it and it is very dilapidated now. But great memories of my youth before I came here.
yes, I thought you did. The high street looked in reasonable condition.
Its Mr Ns birthday so I took him out for brekkie where I promptly knocked over my coffee and ruined my bacon roll and drenched 8 workmen on the next table 2 mts away!! More.like a bucket full I was mortified but they laughed and luckily we knew some of them. The owner gave us another bacon roll and more coffee! The we went to a hardware shopper airport and I bought Mr N a stainless steel colander and 2 oil containers doe his birthday which he wanted
He also had shes tee shirts and a few bits and Bob's then Tesco! Yay more crap and English bread and a gammon joint ( v small for €6!) Got some exciting crispy tiger bread rolls. We can get crispy rolls here so am delighted. Then home and a dip in the pool in my undies as I was so hot. Now all clothes are in wash to get rid of coffee smell and I am relaxing in cool bedroom. Definitely need the coolth!

My heavens it look grotty now . I had both storeys! Huge it was! Had to go in and out via that side passageway. Would be scared to do it now !
oh, that bit's not so classy any more, is it?
Hi folks
Thought I'd better show my face and see how you all are.
Sorry to hear about your OH Jno .Fingers crossed for both of you that all will be Ok.
Nothing exciting here. The weather has been grim for the time of year but looks brighter next week.
I cancelled my hair appointment in the end.Still erring on the side of caution for now.I bought myself a jigsaw instead. It's called Happy days at work:The Hairdresser.I can do that and pretend I'm in the salon:)
I succumbed to a really nice bag reduced from 99quid to thirty and that's my lot for keeping the economy going for now.
Happy belated birthday to Mr.N.
Hope you're all well.KBOx

Hi shaney. From tomorrow by law we have to always wear masks when outside and in shops! That's locals and tourists alike as we have had a spike of the virus . Think they are tossing up between another lockdown and the loss of tourist trade. I just go with the flow. I'd like a new bag but just tourist trut her. Hija just bought a Guess bag for €79! I just couldn't justify that. I bought 2 new long dresses from internet but not sure about them!
Hi Neti
I meant to ask you how your sister is with the shingles. I hope she feels better now.I do sympathise as I had it once really badly in my left bosom and it went round my back and into my armpit.Very painful. Then I got again in my head but only mildly.Tell her aloe vera gel kept in the fridge and slapped on is very soothing.
When I do go eventually go out I shall wear a mask as we'll get tourists here as well now they've opened stuff up more.I've dusted off my wheelie and wiped it all down with Dettol it in anticipation :)
We dusted down the shopping trolley and trotted off to san an to waitrose by not too much there and loads of reduced stuff. Sell by date etc so i got a few packs.of sausages and froze them. I love English sausages.Mr N bought 4 different ready cooked curries which he is preparing now! I rather fear that Waitrose may go bust especially as we have a Tesco nearer. It is stinking hot and my nose is running non stop especially in a obligatory mask!!
Sister is getting better thanks shaney. She was in waitrose and they opened a special checkout for her so she did have to queue. Whether it was her advanced age or her mucky scabby looking face she doesnt know!!
The curries were Iceland an dhave to say they were delicious. €11 3 curries and a pilau rice and loads left for tomorrow. Compared to the curry houses here they were so much better. Mr N had to make onion bhajees so he drove me to village at 5pm in the stifling heat to get gram flour as it was way too hot to walk and I missed my siesta but they were nice. I am now stuffed!
Ok jno, thay is 3 curries for €11 not €113!
