Popped into my local Tesco Express this morning and the customer in front of me put 4 bananas onto the scales and the assistant said sorry but from this morning bananas are 19p each.I asked if that was the price in all Tesco stores but she thought it was only in the Express stores and that she thought it was disgusting and that we all ought to contact Tesco and complain,so fellow AB ers if you are charged that price have a moan.

And the question is?

Anyway, surely you can't complain if you get 4 bananas for 76p.

It would seem that the question is: Why are (it would seem) the express stores charging per bannana rather then by weight?

My answer would be that Tesco find that those customers using the express stores are more likely to buy just one or two bananas for lunch. I would say it is the case that tesco feel they will make more money this way. As the small stores are technically classed as convinience stores they would say costs are higher and that they cannot keep to the same low prices as in their large stores

went into TE next to work and bought two bananas, cost me 22p, daughter works in TE further along road and said that they were charging 19p each, so no consistency there, well until they all catch up maybe
