Who's yours and why???
Mine's Rick Stein just sheerly because everything he does is super-fresh and from ingredients you can get in the UK without buying packaged.
I think he's especially talented when it comes to freshly-caught fish.

Stein's done some good stuff but I reckon he's a big old liar. In one of his shows he went to the NW coast of Scotland and went all dewey-eyed about a seafood cafe overlooking the sea; he saw a sign saying "Seafood cafe" pointing towards this place, went there, and was shown tucking into fresh prawns while waxing lyrical about how it's exactly the sort of place he loves - simple, cheap, local, etc. When we were on holiday in that bit of Scotland and couldn't find it, the locals said it was all fabricated, the place didn't exist, and it wasn't even filmed there anyway, it'd been filmed up the road at a rented holiday chalet overlooking a loch and others had tried looking for it too. The great big old fibber!
They were also enraged by Rhodes coming along to film and bringing a salmon with him from London. They pointed out to him that the Scottish highlands are known to produce some reasonable salmon.
I'm a little wary of chefs who choose to become TV stars. Sometimes they do good stuff - it can be quite entertaining watching Ramsey instilling some organisation and enthusiasm into lacklustre restaurants, and some of Oliver's recent projects have made interesting viewing. But ultimately I like chefs who stay in their kitchens and focus on being good chefs.
