Toast ? OK not burnt but neither are onions they are just cooked to the point of nearly being burnt, but I get your point. Also Can anybody name another food which is called something different when its cooked i.e. Bread/Toast.
common denominator is sugar. everthing that tastes nicer brown (roast veggies, toast, toffee banoffee sauce) has a high sugar content, its the caramelisation that adds the flavour
Your onions must be different than mine slimjim, because any burnt ones end up in the bin - much too bitter for our taste, a deep golden tinge yes, but burnt no!
Now....if meat happens to get a bit charred, then my lot fight for it! All a matter of taste, I suppose.
I adore pork crackling well done. Sorry about this folks but why can't I post questions I have been trying on and off for well over a week now and its nothing rude or controversial.
whenever we have liver, cabbage, onions and gravy, my plate is put back in the oven for an extra 1/2 hour so that I have to virtually chisel the gravy from round the side of the plate
