It's one of the reasons producers put 'Best Before' labels on their products, (usually indicating 18 month or 2 years), since it's likely that crystals will form after that time. They're sugar, harmless, and don't affect the taste. But some folk don't like the crunchiness.
The traditional method for getting rid of crystals is to place the jar in warm water until they've melted. Too much direct heat can scorch it. Refrigeration will speed up formation of crystals.,
