Part 2
The last item I bought was for a school outing. I was proud of myself by buying ten tins of flaked tuna. Oh my goodness...not one, two, but the four tins we opened were vile. One of the tins had something that I'd swear was rat tail...it actually had something that looked like fur on it. The contents of another tin were almost red in colour. The third was a bit more acceptable, but there were lots of silver bits..finally, out of exasperation, I scooped all of the tins into the trash & went to Tesco and bought Princess brand.
Personally, I'm fine with the tesco brand tuna...but what Lidl had, in my opinion, resembled floor scrapings from a processing plant. I certainly might have been able to force a sandwich down myself...but I couldn't endure the thought of serving this to the children. The same thing comes to mind when I see Tesco selling their brandline of sausages...I really don't need to tweak your imaginations to help you understand what is in a package of sausage skins that cost 28 pence a pack.
I, just like most of you, enjoy finding good value for money. However, as I share very often with people: The cheapest is not always the least expensive. I agree that M&S line is too expensive...and of course they have a marginal 'snob' factor going as well...But at the other end of the spectrum...I value what I place inside my body and especially what I serve my children. Inbetween, there's a balance...I'm afraid Lidl has never succeeded in tweaking my taste buds...and besides, when it comes to value for money...I make much nicer, more luxurious, and better presented items than you could ever buy on a high street...And...there's always that special 'secret' ingredient.... I add a bit of love to what I make... Beat THAT M&S! :-)
Gute Appetite!
