Sprouts - yippee!!

The first sprouts of the year are in the Coop, well, 24 less than this morning - love or hate? Boiled to a mush with chilli sauce and lashings of white pepper.

Sprouts are lovely with chestnuts.

I now feel inclined to go out and buy some sprouts, but getting the car out and driving five miles is not very appealing at the moment!!

Oh ewww, as much as i love cake and sprouts, the thought of them combined is making me barf- that's quite gross!

Agree with lottie - sprouts and chestnuts are lovely. I love sproiuts though but only if they're still crunchy. Except of course when they are mashed up in bubble & squeak

I agree, smudge, carrot cake is seriously good (exactly what I was thinking) but sprouts aren't exactly sweet like carrots are they ? lol

Sprouts and honey is never going to work. Sprouts go with chilli sauce and white pepper, and loads of salad cream with the mash. No nuts of any kind, ghastly.

Do people still top and tail sprouts? I just make a large cross in the bottom and boil for 30-40 mins, no need even to rinse.

Sometimes they need tailing as they have large lumps of stalk attached, but I dont top them. I do cut a cross in the bottom though if they are large, but not with the small ones.

I still top, tail & put a cross on mine Whiffy, but try not to remove too much!
