How long can you keep Oysters?

If I bought supermarket oysters on Christmas Eve, and kept them in the fridge', would they be OK by Boxing Day?

All depends when they were taken from the beds as to how long you can keep them for. They usually keep four/five days after the date you buy them. If you're at a port where they've been taken out that day they can last a week. Always smell them on opening.
By the way, this information is for UNopened oysters, opened ones have to be eaten same day.
