I am just curious as to whether a potato could possibly be cooked in an oven on a very low heat over 8 hours?
Could this work? Would it be too crispy or not crispy at all?
I like a jacket potato but only done in the oven so the skin is crispy but as I work all day... I know I can microwave first then put in oven to crisp up but just wondered the above....
Thanks!

I dont think it would have an inside left. would be very shriveled up
Hi eash!
The only way you will find out is to give it a trial run on a day you are off. I imagine it would also depend on the size of potato you test run, the larger the longer it would take to cook xxx
I have four in the oven baking now! :0)

Yeah I might experiment and see what happens! I think 4get is right though it would probably all shrivel, lol
I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable though leaving the oven on while I'm out xxx

Good point sachs. Perhaps I'll just do my usual way or have jackets at the weekend instead :-)

Enjoy your spuds and have a good evening xx
You could always part cook them the previous night reducing cooking time by half. Thankyou I will enjoy my meal! x
have you got a timer on your oven as you could set it to come on in time to be cooked for just after you get home.
Part cook them in the micro and finish off
in the oven ...best of both worlds ...
Delia Smith did something like this in her 'Cooking for Idiots' series but I think it was for 2 hours or so
I microwave for about 4-5 mins, then 20-25 mins in the oven and the skin is crispy if you rub with oil and salt
i remember when i was little, my mum used to cook her spuds for all day!
I think she used to put them on gas mark 1/2.
I'm gonna try it too!
