i don't know what it is that annoys me either - after all it's just a menu. I think it must be the "served on a bed of" and "tasty meatballs" (what's the alternative i wonder, bloody horrible meatballs?) and "hand cut" "hand spun" etc etc. I think it's what puts me off in posh resturants - the fact that they have to juuush it up with "timbale" and jus" etc when really they could just describe what it is!
Hi Mercia,
Your menus sound just fine and the food great, but I think it's the over use of restaurant type jargon that makes people think it is posh.
ie 'hand cut chips' 'topped with golden flaky pastry'
I actually cook everything from scratch and really enjoy cooking, although egg and chips is sometimes a lovely change. I like more experimental dishes than you offer.
Not a criticism, so don't tell me off Mr Ed.

Sorry, I hadn't seen your posting Bednobs. But I agree with you.
Last night I had stuffed peppers and used up all the leftovers.
But I could say.
Fresh yellow, red and green peppers stuffed with prime beef mince, italian tomatoes, hand cut mushrooms, home grown onions, organic garlic, fresh garden spinach, a dash of french red wine, and a variety of home grown herbs. Served on a bed of wholewheat pasta with a sprinkling of Italian cheese.
I think I might write up some Menus!
