For around £25-£30. The relative in question likes fine whiskey, but it is a regular birthday not a special one so not going OTT. Anything other than Glenfiddich/GlenMorangie, something a bit different perhaps?

try Bushmills

Not a massive fan of whiskey. I am partial to Jack Daniels and Diet Coke, if I am out.
Bushmills - will have a look.

My uncle is a scottish single malt fan. JD is a bourbon is it not? Whatever it is I put it away like its going out of fashion when I am out!
I buy him Glenfiddich every year, just wondered if anything a bit different in the same price range?
Sorry, but if they like fine Whiskey (or whisky, whiskey is irish?) then do not buy them JD, they will be insulted!!

as I assume you meant whisky (Scotch) then how about getting them a bottle of Irish whiskey? something like bushmills to give them the chance to try something different.
the macallan is generally enjoyed.

here is a review of it
Okay, I haven't actually tasted these, but I have it on good authority that ...

If you want a powerful, "peaty" flavoured malt ... Laphroaig or Talisker

If you want a rich, mellow malt ... Macallan or Aberlour

If you want a light, fragrant malt ... Glankinchie or Bruichladdich or Dalwhinnie

Tah daah.

I thank you.
Sorry, that's ... "Glenkinchie" apparently.
conemara is also a nice Irish single malt. and agree with scotman with highland park as another good suggestion.

My mistake - not a Bourbon (as per wiki explanation)

"Jack Daniel's is a brand of whiskey that is among the world's best-selling liquors and is known for its square bottles and black label. Despite many misconceptions by consumers and even in the marketplace, it is not marketed as a bourbon according to the official Jack Daniels web site. The lack of any reference to Bourbon on the label also negates any relationship to Bourbon."
