Best Single malt......

For around £25-£30. The relative in question likes fine whiskey, but it is a regular birthday not a special one so not going OTT. Anything other than Glenfiddich/GlenMorangie, something a bit different perhaps?

Okay, I haven't actually tasted these, but I have it on good authority that ...
If you want a powerful, "peaty" flavoured malt ... Laphroaig or Talisker
If you want a rich, mellow malt ... Macallan or Aberlour
If you want a light, fragrant malt ... Glankinchie or Bruichladdich or Dalwhinnie
Tah daah.
I thank you.

My mistake - not a Bourbon (as per wiki explanation)
"Jack Daniel's is a brand of whiskey that is among the world's best-selling liquors and is known for its square bottles and black label. Despite many misconceptions by consumers and even in the marketplace, it is not marketed as a bourbon according to the official Jack Daniels web site. The lack of any reference to Bourbon on the label also negates any relationship to Bourbon."
