Is there any way the wife can use this 2 minute pouch rice for puddings .the last time it turned out awful ,I know there are two different sorts savoury and pudding but rice is rice and if this was 1940 some of the old dears would find away I'm sure
The pouch rice has been cooked and has already absorbed all the water it can. So the rice tastes of, well, rice. With rice pudding, milk and sugar are absorbed by the rice which gives the rice a totally different flavour. It's what rice is cooked in from dried that makes all the difference.
Oh dear me I seem to have offended the above Well I did tell the wife she stood a good chance of getting a smart answer asking me to post the question
And Ginge being born in 1930 I have eaten worst and enjoyed it
If you want rice (as in Curry and Rice) you buy Long Grain Rice, (or there are many other types),
If you want rice to make Rice Pudding, you have to buy Short Grain Rice.
I would never buy a 2 minute pouch rice and try to make a pudding out of it.
ps thats why it turned out awful.
