I like to play the Sims 2 on my xp computer but have a problem with it running very slowly. I read somewhere that if you turn off some background processes then it runs much better, however I have no idea which are safe to turn off or if there are any I should leave. When I do Ctrl-Alt-Del a whole load of processes are listed and I haven't a clue so I just leave it. Does anyone know which are safe to stop running and which I should leave? Any suggestions welcome!!

Click on your task manager and see what is running at the same time as the game.

I can see the list of processes which are running at the same time in the background. What I'd like to know is which ones are safe to turn off so the game runs more smoothly. I never have any other applications running at the same time, just background processes. Any ideas?
Hi,
you dont want to end ANY system, local or network processes. It is safe to end most of the USER processes. You dont want to end explorer.exe or taskmgr.exe If some processes will not allow you to terminate them, they are probably firewalls/anti-virus programs, e.g CCAPP.exe is the Norton Anti-Virus process and so you can't end it.

Hope this helps.
