There shouldn't be a problem. I recently changed mine. Ask the phone shop
they will give you a 'telephone portal code' when you ask ... and you give this to your new provider!

seemples!

thank you both very much - cathfromsaron - I'm only getting a new phone , not changing provider - all I want to do is keep everything the same except with a new mobile phone.
You should be able to just put the sim card from your old phone into your new one.
Question Author
thank you jimjools - I really hope it's as simple as that.
^ what jimjools says - every time I get a new phone, I just take the sim card out of the old one and put it in the new one. Make sure that the phone numbers you need are on the sim though, not on the old phone, otherwise you'll lose them.

Yeah: I feel like driving my car over mine most days. Can't really afford to though.

:-)) Old Geezer but they have become an essential nowadays so am trying to train myself to 'love my mobile'
Bear in mind the old SIM card may not work after being run over by your car.

Oh, never thought of that Canary - very good point - thank you for mentioning it.
If it doesn't work your provider should be able to provide you with a new one with the same number.
Question Author
thank you jimjools (again) - spoke with vodafone this morning and that's exactly what's going to happen - appreciate the input.
You're welcome - Just make sure you don't run this one over. :-))
