It must have been a catastrophe and frightening for the population of London. There was probably no kind of Fire Service in those days.
I watched a programme about it a few weeks ago - not sure what channel - Could have been C5, but equally so it could have been Nat. Geo. or another channel
13,000buildings were destroyed after a fire in Thomas Farriner's bakery. The fire was first spotted by the baker's apprentice Thomas dagger. A subsequent trial blamed the blaze on a Frenchman Robert Hubert who was subsequently found culpable and hanged. The baker and his apprentice believer Hubert was innocent.
