my niece has what i think is a really nice kitchen with beech type coloured doors and cornice but wants to change just the doors to a black gloss type so that it contrasts with the original coloured cornice, i havent seen this in any of the diy shops so if anyone knows a link where we could view similar i would really appreciate it as its quite hard to imagine what they would look like together, many thanx
Something that I think I've suggested to someone before... if you decide to paint, take the doors to a car body/sprayshop. They could spray with a synthetic matt black, then finish with a few coats of extremely hard-wearing high-gloss lacquer.
It's often done with cars. If you fancy being really cool, have some fleck mixed in with the lacquer :o)
i have told her she is daft to change them as they are fine but she wants to be trendy and diffrent at the same time. i dont think she would achieve a good paint finish as she isnt too good at gloss painting but will look into the other ideas, in the meantime i am going to see if i can find any pictures online of something like what she is after, many thanx
I did have a look at a few of kitchen design sites but many of them wanted me to download software and well...I couldn't be bothered.
Have a poke around in Ikea, Wickes, diy-kitchens, etc, you can download packages that will allow you to design your kitchen. You should be able to create the look your niece is after, the sites I looked at didn't have cornicing as an accessory.
