I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

Good morning all. Hope everyone is feeling better if they are not out painting the town red!
Beautiful red sky here. Shepherds warning but I doubt it.
Am still in bed having a cuppa don't want to get up!
painting the town grey here. Storm Gertrude has brought clouds and the leaves are fluttering a bit in the breeze. The ground is almost damp. Damn this climate change!
It's getting like the Spanish postal system here. You post it disappears!

We had red sky last night but Gertrude has turned up anyway.
Afternoon all...how are you all doing? Hope things are improving for the ailing ones....I'm yo-yo-ing between fair and crip. Managed a toddle to the shops yesterday, it was lovely in the morning but it soon changed pm and I had a blinding headache all afternoon. Went to bed at 8. I have a sinus headache every day :( I don't think the weather's any help, it's dreadful today, I hate tearing wind like this.

The art exhibition looks lovely jno, my favourites, so colourful.
Speaking of colourful did you watch the real Marigold Hotel thing with the celebs t'other night? I loved it, looking forward to the next one.

For 'Midwife' fans - I saw Stephen McGann (Dr Turner) talking about this book he's written, it looks good but I might wait for the paperback.

Maybe we should write a book? :)
Hi there Robi, glad you made it. Yes I watched the marigold hotel, I really enjoyed it. Would love to be there with them but knowing my luck I'd get a load of smelly old women. £20 a week for someone to cook and clean up, I'm in! I would be terrified to walk in those streets though, I'd get terribly dizzy! I don't much care for Miriam Margoles but I do love her voice and her comments,
Hi all
Gusty Gertrude still gusting away here.I wish she'd gust orf.
Been to see about leg and now have to for a Doppler scan next Friday and then they'll decide whether I have to go to either dermatology or the vein people at the hospital .Still bldy painful but not much I can do about it.My leg is in their hands :)
Nice to see you Robinia and glad you feel a tad better. I've put that book on wish list at the library .
Yes I enjoyed the Marigold Hotel thing .
I played darts many years ago with Bobby George at a charity do .Needless to say he beat me but I got a signed certificate to say so ! He's a really nice man .Sad to see him crumped up with arthritis like that. Mind you I'm crumped up with it myself.
I'm a crumped grump atm and my poor old husband is 70 today...lol.
Happy Birthday to Mr S....hope he's well shaney. It's a long ole haul with that leg, I hope they get you sorted.

Yes, India looked too hectic for me not to mention too hot hot hot and I hate that huge difference between the rich and poor. (The way things are going it'll be like that here soon). I'd be no good there if I was rich, I'd be a soft touch, handing out money like sweets...there'd be a crowd and a herd of cows outside my door. :)

It's brightened up but Gert's still howling.

hello all, wind has dropped here but its still very grey. I have been making bits to make some cards with, they are a watercolour technique and the paper gets very soggy so you have to let it dry between stages. I started watching the marigold thing but it got to the bit where they were allocating the jobs and I kind of lost interest.
Your leg in their hands Shaney, you sound like a contortionist. Happy 70th to Mr Shaney and wishing him many many more. I hate this blowy weather too Robi and my sinuses are playing up but only a little bit. The dust from all the dried mud doesn’t help.
Happy 7th birthday to Mr S xx
Yes Robi I thought that about the tour guide 's family, I would.offer them some.money every week. Terrible isn't it just to be labelled criminal caste just because you were born.
Yes yes I know Mr S isn't 7!!
Happy 70 birthday to Mr S x
Well word gets round super quick, just had a silent call that looks like it was from a call centre in India. They must read this thread. I take it all back, I'm not at all generous, I'm as tight as a duck's....

:)
Hahaaaa Neti ..I bet he wishes he was still 7.
Yes I found the line between poverty and wealth was huge. The contrast between the tour guide chap and that Maharaja. I suppose it's like anywhere really .You can turn a corner in this country and see deprivation and poverty.
I got asked for money by a gentleman in India once, Robi. He explained that he'd just got out of jail for murder and was at a bit of a loose end. He even showed me a letter from the prison governor confirming it and saying he was a greatly improved character. I gave him several rupees, as I was much struck by his plight.
Well done jno.what a brave and generous person you are!!
Have really only popped in to wish jude and The Rams good luck for tonight. Hope shenis well enough to go!
