hi, just wondering if anyone could tell me how man 25kg bags of sand and cement it would take to make a base for tiles in the garden. the base will be 2 x 2M, and im told needs to be 6 inches thick. any thoughts? TIA

A rough calculation is that you require 18 cubic feet... here in the U.S. a bag of ready mix concrete will cover just under 1 cubic feet... hence 18 or maybe 19 bags...
What sort of tiles? ............ concrete slabs?

no, outdoor ceramic tiles.......
I think you are going to need a 100mm thick concrete base to prevent any movement to lay thin? ceramic tiles with water proof adhesive and grout like you would in a bathroom or kitchen this may help http://www.source4me.co.uk/calculate_building_ materials.php?tab=0 hth Tez
........yep ......100mm concrete base ............. get a "Dumpy" bag (approx 800kg) of "All-in concrete mix" delivered (craned off).
Plus 6 25kg bags of cenent.

ps rent a mixer as well :o)
