Nextdoor's cats keep coming into our garden to defecate.

How can I stop this without having to resort to felicide?

Ha ha...."felicide"!!
You could buy some Keep Off granules from Wilkinsons, or visiting your nearest zoo and asking them for some lion/tiger pooh. Apparently, cats are terrified of it!!
shoot the little fcuker.

Like the water jet idea.

Seriously considering it. Have you one yourself?
No, just saw them advertised, guess it depends on the size of your garden but I'd reckon a couple of squirts would be enough to put off your average moggy
i have been told that if you put full plastic bottles of water laid down on the ground it keeps them off .if that fails put a saucer of milk with 2 broken up asprins in and leave for cat to drink
I had this problem.......I once got so fed up - i bought a catapult to shoot at the culprit. However it had been years since i fired one. I caught it in the act, it was 5 yards away, i took aim and fired- i missed by a mile and smashed the window on my car.
Something worked as the cat didn't come back again- but i was out of pocket and the catapult went in the bin.

Thanks.

The plastic bottles idea doesn't work. Tried it.

The scarecrow water jet sounds the best idea.

No way am I heading down to the zoo to ask for pile of tiger sh*t!

When I can catch them, a water pistol works wonders, but the ******* keep cr*pping when I'm out at work.

:-(
There is a product called "Silent Roar" . It consists of granules soaked in lions pee! It doesn't smell, & you spread the granules where the cats GO. It worked for me, I get the occasional cat in my garden, but they is no sign of any deposits!!!
I've had the same problem for years.
Tried paprika on the soil...but the cat returns after a short while.
Tried the sonic repellent (Sends out a high pitched alarm that only cats and some humans can hear) but the cat got used to it.
Then this year foxes started appearing in the local gardens. Funnily enough the cats dissappeared and notices started appearing in the neighbourhood reporting missing cats!!!!
Probably doesnt help you but at least there is a God!
One other idea I've heard of - if you go to a zoo ask the zoo keeper for lion dung and put some where the cats defacate. The cats will stay well clear apparently.

I have 2 cats that leave 'prezzies' on my garden soil and i found the best way to stop them was to buy the cheapest gravel (about 1 ins rough stones) from a local builders supply (dont buy it from garden centres, they charge the earth) and gravelled on top of my soil to about 1 and a half inch in depth. The rougher the gravel the better! The cats find it too heavy to scrape a loo in and it hurts their paws. Looks nice too!
I havent had any cats 'poo' on it since.
Hope it helps Dusty.

willowbee - there's an area of gravel in the garden and that's the cats' favourite area!
you dont say if they come under the fence or over or threw a hole
1 under cardbored squares with drawing pins pushed through slightly cover with soil.
2 threw a hole first catch the cat wrap it in a towel cut off its wiskers it wont come though the hole again if you make the hole a little smaller .
3 if it comes over the top buy some woodern carpet gippers
with the small spikes on nail them on top of the fence
4 neat amonia in small tablet bottles put cotton wool in the top part bury them put a stone over the top

Did say at the outset I didn't want to resort to felicide.

However, you are right in that there are more ways to kill a cat than by filling it with cream!
