Can anyone suggest a way of ridding greenfly on herbs as obviously I can't use pesticides. I've thought of planting marigolds in between them, will this work ?
agree with lonnie, we use half washingup liquid to water, but also plant marigolds in between tomatoes, herbs etc,
we do a lot of companion planting that helps repel a lot of the pests,
ladybirds!... they can eat thru thousands of the ******* in a very short time. You may be able to buy ladybird eggs on the net but they should find their way to the greenfly on their own.

use an eco friendly washing up liquid, leave it on for an hour or so and wash it off. The soap will block their breathing and it will break down safely.
