Warning ! I've had damage to several shrubs and trees where the snow has turned to ice and the weight has broken the branches.

I brushed 6'' of snow from the top of my Hebe when it started to 'sag'. I expect a lot of trees will suffer under the weight of ice and snow this year.
Very regettable modeller but I should leave well alone until the spring before you consider pruning, etc. Try it now to improve the looks and you could be inviting greater damage.
Sorry to hear that, it's a shame. Try and remember to knock serious amounts of snow off hedges, and shrubs. We'll all have to wait until spring now to see what has survived.
I have recently netted two 4 foot miniture conifers, hopeing to regain thier shape. My pampass grass has been flattened also my 12 foot palm tree which was in flower is now a sorry sight. On the good side my whisky stock hasn't dried up yet.lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL READERS.
My 2 small conifers have done the same, I'm going to have to chop them back
