I wish to fit new internal doors in light oak
Would wickes be the best place to look or are they generally considered expensive?

TIA

I'd not consider Wickes generally to be that expensive, but I suspect there are better offers on the Net. Oak isn't cheap at the best of times.
Of the large volume UK door manufacturers, both Jeld-Wen and Premdor have expanded their range to produce better quality doors in oak (or part-solid part-oak-laminate). These will be available form virtually every builders merchant and you will be able to negotiate significant discounts if you are purchasing several. Wickes, as far as I know won't volume discount unless you are registered with them as a trader.
So if you want one or two, go to Wickes - otherwise try a builders merchant.

It is very probable that Wickes source their doors from one of these two suppliers anyway - and just brand them as Wickes.

Oh thank you for your answers - I want 7 doors so I think I will try the local directory for builders merchants before (final resort) going to Wickes

Many thanks again
Ric.ror - if I remember rightly you live in W Yorks? There is a firm in Sheffield called Doorpac who we source doors/door frames from for our many projects - contact number 0114 256 1615 if that's of any use to you - you may be able to get them ready supplied with ironmongery.
There are a lot imported from the Far East these days. Prices are lower as well.
