Shagpile. How do I claen it?

We've just moved house and there's a lovely shagpile carpet in the living room. The only problem is a slight sweaty feet smell in the room and I wonder if it could be the carpet. It would also benefit from a clean visually. What do I do? Would a regular carpet cleaning firm take this on?

Of course I could just call them and ask, but I'd rather have some advice from you lot in case a firm says they can do it just to get the business.
