Lilies

When we moved into our present house,in July 2009,the front garden had,amongst other plants,some lovely lilies,already in bloom.They were beautiful last year also.
However,this year,where the bloom would normally show,has turned brown and become
soggy.
Considering there has been precious little rain in this area,could anyone help with an answer to this problem.
