Pruning Shrubs

[Robinia]

Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Evening all
Well it'll be drip drip drip for us tomorrow at the hospital piddle clinic though I'm hoping for a waterfall .I'm fed up with living with one of The Seven Dwarfs .That'll be the one called Grumpy :)

I've had one of those days too .Nothing goes right .

My cousin rolled up here today ( unexpected .I groaned when I saw her car pull up ) and regaled me with an A to Z of her moans while I ferried in and out supplying her with tea and biccies .It's being so cheerful keeps her going :) Considering she's now a wealthy woman she's misery personified .She's thinking about selling her house and moving over here.That'll be just great :)

Otherwise nowt doing at Shaneytowers .We went and voted and that's about it .

Haha ..Good pics Jno . . It's a shame because they're pretty girls and they looked awful .I wonder who advises them on what to wear .
Mind you I look bloody awful so I shouldn't critiicise :)

Don't fear the Reaper? I love that song but I thought the bloomin Grim Reaper was coming last night, I had the sh1t fairy visit me soon after midnight ...literally! Up all bl00dy night with me hat on as my mum would have said, sat on the throne with my head in a bucket, almost fainted at one point...(sorry if you're having your breakfast!)...jeez, I think I've been cursed lately. Just had my first cuppa with plenty of sugar so I hope it puts a bit of life back in me, I could hardly stand first thing.
I'll mainly be having plenty of water with my water today :o(
Good thing birthdays don't bother me, I think they're a bit sad sometimes thinking of the cards that you don't get any more from family you've lost. And Ozzy son & family's cards brought tears to my eyes, they're so far away.

Good luck at the hospital shaney, hope it's not too long a visit & all goes well. I'm not keen on spontaneous visitors I'm afraid, not very sociable I know. On the other hand I don't want too much notice either, just an hour will do....long enough to hide :o)

Oh poor Robi....that sounds like norovirus. Take it really easy today, the sweet tea is a good idea, also something slightly salty. I know what you mean about unexpected visitors, I absolutely HATE them, not the visitors although.........but the unexpectedness.

Big day today, DH picks up his new bike and sells the old one on Tuesday so we have bike polishing today while the weather stays nice, also a new mower and pressure washer to play with......alters all.

No joy for Mr S. Four hours sitting about in the hospital .He has to go back and have a investigation with a camera again .
Lovely day here though ,warm and sunny .
I've made an appt for Monday. This dizziness is no better really and now I seem to have blurred vision and flashing lights from time to time .I had a momentary dither in the High St when we got off the bus and it was a bit scary ...but it didn't stop me scoffing me dinner in Morrisons :) We were starving .

Glad you are being sensible Shaney. We never got to polishing today, we went out and silly devilled around instead and bought the dogs a hamburger. Sorry to hear that Mr S couldn't deliver.
I hope it rains tomorrow..the garden is like a dustbowl and I am feeling lazy.
