Use of carpet leftovers

I run a Play Group at our local church catering for under 5,s. I have been buying pieces of carpet suitable for babies to play on . I have to try to obtain foam backed samples so they do not move once put down. Because we have to take them up after each session and roll them for storage each week the foam starts to crumble. Has anyone any suggestions of how to overcome this problem or is there an alternative way to protect young children?

If you can get some carpet pieces without foam backing, carpet gripper tape might help. Enter "carpet gripper tape" into Google to get a list of suppliers. Also try http://www.tapes-direct.co.uk and click on Carpet & Flooring Tapes in the list on the left-hand side of the page. If you try to stick gripper tape to foam-backed carpet, you still have the problem of the foam crumbling when you roll the carpet up, so that's why I think that you might have more chance of success with gripper tape on non-foam backed carpet. Have you tried to cadge redundant carpet pattern books from flooring shops? You might get suitable pieces that way.
