I would wait until the weeds have died, not all of them die with the first treatment and it would be a pain to have to deal with regrowth once the turf is down.

If you've prepared the area there should be no weeds for the Weedol to work on.

I appreciate your answers all, I have just read the info on Roundup regards Residuel Weedkiller, am I right that it states turf CAN BE layed straght after application?

TWR check the link that Chris has provided. I'm still wondering why you have sprayed Weedol on an area that you have prepared ready for turf as if its is ready for turfing there shouldn't be any weeds there.

Oops, just realised you are referring to Roundup not Weedol. I'm not sure if they are both systemics if they are my replies are the same.

The manufacturer's state that you should wait for 2 days

but (as in my previous link) they recommend actually allowing around a week for all of the previous growth to die down.

yep, they are both systemics and are most effective on weeds with a lot of leaves. You don't spray them onto bare soil as it is pointless.

How have your prepared the ground for laying the turf?

Eccles & all, thank you for your help, this is not my area, I have prepared the area for the Turf, I have not Used the Roundup as yet so there is not probs, the area has been cleared / Raked ready for the turn, will do as advised, again, that you all.

Eccles, the garden has been neglected by the previous owners ( Not my house but my friends) I have Racked all the Moss / Dandelions rubbish from the surface & cleared down to the soil which is rich, that was racked & racked, leveled & now ready for the turn, not every bit of Dandelion root has been removed this is the purpose of Roundup, I hope you can follow my comments.

roundup doesn't kill dandelion roots. It is absorbed through the leaves while the plant is growing....no leaves, no absorption, plant not killed. Roundup is also made inactive by contact with soil so it wont do anything when the dandelions shoot again which they will. You can either lay the turf and put up with the dandelions or wait for them to shoot again and retreat with roundup.

Yep, I follow you TWR but Roundup won't work on weed roots. It will only work on surface leaves and the poison will disperse through to the roots.

If you've done your best to clear the area down a few inches then you've done your best. Good luck.

So how come you can use Roundup (or any glyphosate based herbicide) to kill tree stumps ???
